Lincolnshire Group – July 2023 Report
Touring Northern Spain
Sue & I along with friends Tony & Rebecca Mealing ( Nic & Sue Turley should have been with us but Nic had to withdraw due to hospital admission, now fully fit. ) spent the month of June touring N. Spain in our Austin Light Twelve Ascots. We covered some 1,500 miles and stayed in some beautiful Parador hotels. Any minor problems we had could be easily sorted without a diagnostic computer!!! I have retained all our route information so if anyone else wants to take on this trip I can appraise you of where we stayed and what we did. It just proves the old saying “ You can rely on an Austin “

Dunholme Lodge Visit
Didn’t we have a lovely day the day we went to Dunholme
Daisy waiting for the Charabanc.
Five Austin 7’s, 3 Austin 10’s and an Austin 12 all arrived to be part of the exhibits at The Dunholme Lodge Open Gardens plus 6 members in their Classic Cars who joined the display along with a few other interesting Classic Cars which the event had drawn in. It was rather windy and a bit chilly but it turned out to be a super day. Although they have been members for some years we met, for the first time, Robert and Cindy Bryant in their A7 Box Saloon with its recently re- introduced sun roof and its beautifully completed head lining. Their family were later to join them and I hope they all enjoyed the day. The stars of our line up were Ashley Vincent’s vintage Chummy and Andrew Neale’s similar Box Saloon. Roger and Debbie Comber in their Morgan also came for the first time to this event and it was also great to see members from Lincolnshire and Humberside attend.
We were all treated to Coffee and Cake by the organiser and the Ukulele Band, as brilliant as ever, played throughout the day. There were some very interesting Stalls with lots of bargains to be had. The garden looked lovely, in fact a few of us picnicked in a nice sunny spot in the lea of the Manor House and we all had a good old natter and chat about funny events that had happened to us with our cars.
All in all a quintessentially English Event which quite a few people who said they would attend, sadly missed. Perhaps next year!
