November Report -2017

Lincolnshire Group  –  November 2017 Report

End Of Season Run – Sunday 22nd October

Great turn out. Fourteen cars at the start ready for another of Paddy & Ande Malone’s scenic 39 mile Lincolnshire runs. Lots of positive comments and the ford was especially enjoyed. A number of members went straight to the end venue, namely the Robin Hood & Littlejohn pub. Consequently there were thirty seven of us siting down to a cracking Sunday luncheon. Everyone made it safely home but it has to be said Karen Barrett was not amused when her car started overheating and co-driver Ian Bancroft poured in a bottle of her best Sauvignon Blanc!

Quiz Night

Our old friends & Ruby owners Ed & Di Davies paid a surprise visit from Gloucestershire. A perfect opportunity to catch up on old times. The quiz itself was a great success. Ten teams of approximately four took part and this year I decided that each round should be a mixed bag of questions. This seemed to go down well and there were not too many shouts of “Too Hard”!  There was much hilarity in round six when one of the questions was “ What does a tailor do with his plonker? “At half time the chips were well received and quickly devoured. The winning team with a score of 59 out of a possible 96 was led by our visitors Ed & Di Davies. The winners of the booby prize for lowest score shall remain anonymous. Next month is our annual Xmas dinner at The George .

Holland – Dutch ATDC Rally

The rally is confirmed as being in Stompetoren and I have 10 rooms booked at the Van der Valk Hotel, Akersloot bij Alkmaar. Jody Kaldenberg the Chairman of the Dutch Austin Ten Drivers Club has obtained a special rate of 129.50 euros per night for two people in a double en suite room with breakfast. The plan is to sail overnight Thursday 28th June from Hull, arriving Rotterdam on the Friday morning. The non-motorway journey to Alkmaar is a distance of 92 miles. The ATDC rally is over the weekend but we are booking seven nights in the hotel in order to explore the town of Alkmaar and the surrounding area, sailing home overnight on Friday night 6th July. As well as the modest rally fee the other cost will be the ferry. No group discount available so you will need to book your own crossings, best done a.s.a.p. To date I have 7 couples definitely signed up. If you would like to take part please e mail a.s.a.p. I should also be able to obtain more than ten rooms if required. Please google Alkmaar as there is lots on the web.
