Lincolnshire Group July 2018 Report

Blyton Park Track Day – Wed. 20th June

Unfortunately my wife Sue had complications after minor surgery & I was unable to attend. However although few in number the feedback on the day has been very positive see below:-

After a 2 hour trip in my Box saloon, arrival at the Blyton Park circuit confirmed that the day would be a blustery one, another factor to add to my already overloaded driving skills, being a non-racer. At 9.15 around half a dozen A7 members had assembled for the driver briefing by Richard Usher, the circuit manager, who explained that as other cars were using part of the circuit for testing, our circuit would be a smaller part of the main circuit with a number of ‘wiggles’ in the back straight!

Out in the paddock car preparation began, mine being the removal of my tool box and a 10ltr can of fuel. We then all lined up behind Richard in the Ginetta pace car to be shown the circuit. Then it was a ‘free for all’ for the next couple of hours.

After a buffet lunch, with other testing completed, the circuit was extended to incorporate a long sweeping back straight which enabled me in my saloon to increase my average speed, but not by a lot. Clive Neale, John Village, Gerald Mullord and others continued to experiment with tyres and carb needles and circuit technique, looking for that extra speed, the fun continuing until 3.30pm when thoughts turned to departing for home.

An excellent day, thoroughly enjoyed by all those able to take part.

 Hi Peter

Thank you for arranging Blyton. It was unfortunate that so few attended, however those that did thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

 Wellow – Joint meet

John Gray & I were worried that as the evening clashed with the England football game very few would turn out. However I think it was the best turn out for a number of years with sixteen Austin Sevens and one Austin Twelve filling up the car park. Ernie Beckett’s core plug sprang a leak but help was soon at hand with Paddy Malone quickly producing a replacement.

The Lincolnshire Group was founded in January 1969 and we shall be arranging a memorable day to celebrate this milestone on Saturday 15th June 2019. There will be a run taking in Lincoln Cathedral environs and finishing at Brayford Pool with a jazz band, a celebratory plaque [ sponsored by Chandlers Farm Equipment ] for each driver and scones for all to go with your picnic. There will be no entry fee for this event so no excuse for not attending!!!!!

I anticipate sending out application forms in September along with 2019 Sevens to the Sea forms.
